Sacrament of Reconciliation

(Sacrament of Penance, Confession, or Forgiveness)  Reconciliation; an encounter with God revealed by Jesus. A journey toward Reconciliation that involves living a life as a follower of Jesus.

His Excellency Bishop McGrattan, Bishop of Calgary has brought the parishes of the Diocese together to offer a Sacramental Preparation Program that is consistent in form and content. This initiative is designed to assist the home, school and parish in nurturing the faith of your child as you prepare them for receiving the sacraments.

All of the Catholic parishes in the Calgary Diocese work closely with the school communities.  The Catholic schools provide Religious and Family Life Education for your child and the parishes provide the Sacramental Preparation Program for your child.  The Sacramental Preparation Program will be offered at the parishes.

There will be one session per month and the sessions will run ninety minutes in length.   Catechists from the parish community will facilitate the Sacramental Preparation Program with your child, and the parish pastoral team will meet with the parents. The Sacramental Preparation Program is required for your child to understand the significance of the sacraments and to receive these sacraments this year.

Children in grade 2 now receive preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in the same school year. As this is a combined program, if your child has not received First Holy Communion they must register for both sacraments.   On the registration form please check the box: Combined Program.

Children in Gr 3+ who already received First Holy Communion need only to register for the first half of the program to prepare for First Reconciliation. On the registration form please check the box:  First Reconciliation.
